Some Simple Cake Decorating Instructions To Get You Started

You are a beginner when it comes to decorating cakes and you need some help, so here are some simple cake decorating instructions to get you on your way. Cake decorating is not a difficult skill to learn as many make it out to be and in fact, it can be a very enjoyable process. However, there are some simple tips that you should follow and this article goes through some of these.

1. Bake a cake with an ideal shape for decorating. As a beginner, you certainly don’t want to start with a cake shaped as a guitar or animal. In addition, make sure that the cake has a fine and smooth surface all over so that decorating is easier for you.

2. Never start decorating on a warm cake that’s just come out of the oven. Wait until the cake has cooled down. Some professional cake decorators even chill the cake to facilitate the decorating process.

3. It’s unlikely that your cake will have a smooth surface after coming out of the oven. In order to rectify this problem, you will need to get a knife to trim off hard ends or dry crust.

4. Once you’ve completed the first 3 steps, you can then proceed to icing your cake. You may be confused by the wide variety of icing available but know that this means that you can be creative with your cake decorating.

Hopefully, the above cake decorating instructions will prove to be helpful for you in your cake decorating journey of discovery.
